Protective Padding
Drymax socks are designed using one of five density levels of protective padding: Low -, Low, Medium, Medium+, and High. Dense padding is used as opposed to thick padding, because dense padding protects the feet without adversely affecting the fit of the shoes.

We
have yet to see any credible evidence demonstrating that thick socks
absorb much shock. However, it might be best said that a sock can
reduce areas of higher pressure. The F-Scan® computer
pressure mapping graphic at right illustrates the pressure on a bare
foot while walking versus the same foot walking in a Drymax protective
padding sock. The Drymax sock reduces peak pressure in the heel,
forefoot and toe areas which equates to a more comfortable foot.
If you want to really increase cushioning we suggest that you buy a good replacement insole. Insoles cushion much better than thick socks.
